Christmas at our house was not a quiet affair this year--we had tons of family, food, and fun. Tara, Paige and
Laynie joined us for a few days, then my family piled in (our house is not quite 2000 square feet, so it was very cozy!) I won't even go into the details about all the food we baked (or burned, depending on who was cooking) and consumed, but needless to say the diet begins soon (my New Years resolution). I will comment that we had my
favs--cookies and wassail (featured below).

I am way behind in my posting since we have been so busy with work, so I will play catch up and post a little each day about our holiday festivities. Today I am recapping Christmas Eve. Amazingly, Josh and I both had the holiday off from work, so we spent most of the day baking and finalizing gifts. We attended our church service with the children in tow and they both acted their age--that is to say Alex screamed the whole time and Josh ended up having to leave the service and Lucas climbed all over
everyone's laps and whined about having cookies, in between jabbing a pencil in my hand, attempting to rip up the hymnal, and repeatedly asking in a not so subtle voice "When are we singing Silent Night mommy?" But that is what Christmas Eve service is all about right? He was very cute with his candle during the last hymnal (SN is his absolute
fav song period--I only really know all the words to Christmas carols as I am not a huge music buff, so at an early age I began singing them to him to lull him to sleep and he routinely requests SN. And Hey Fighting Tigers. Go figure) He was in awe of the flames and all the people holding candles up high and he shyly sang the song. So sweet.

After church we headed home to get the kiddies to bed and then the adults enjoyed watching my
fav holiday movie (See previous post) to many chuckles. I was surprised that Lucas didn't want to leave Santa any cookies--he seemed completely uninterested in that suggestion and I didn't push it. More for me. =)

We ended up at the five o'clock. I was still busy cooking at 3:30...my goodness we had SOO much food!
The boys in their hats are the cutest! Can't wait for pics of all the kiddos in their Christmas outfits (hee hee - a wee bit late!!!). Your comment this morning about posting reminded me I haven't been commenting either. Holidays . . . sigh!
