Everyone knows I love movies (and TV shows) to the point of obsession (yes, I've even named both my children and some of my animals after movie/TV characters). This time of year there are several good holiday movies that I enjoy...but none of them give me that warm holiday fuzzy like National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. It has become an annual tradition to watch this movie during the busy season and every year I find something new and fun to laugh about. Why do I love it? Well, its a REAL spin on Christmas. It reminds me of all the dysfunctional yet loving family moments I have endured over the years. Ellen Griswald said it best: "I don't know what to say, except it's Christmas and we are all in misery."Absolute fav moments from the movie: the entire scene where tree sap makes Clark and Ellen stick to everything, the cat getting fried, everything about Aunt Bethany, when Clark goes crazy and cuts the post off the staircase, and of course, cousin Eddie. Pretty much every word out of his mouth makes me snicker with glee (and his black dickie under the white sweater...LOVE it and it brings back memories of a guy I went to high school with who made the same horrible fashion faux pas).
I'll leave you with this quote from Clark: "Where do you think you're going? Nobody's leaving. Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no. We're all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here. We're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny fucking Kaye. And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of assholes this side of the nuthouse."
So...what is YOUR favorite Christmas movie and why? Love to hear your response.

Elf. I have probably watched it a million times. I love how exuberant he is and how awkward it makes other people feel.

Do you know that I have never watched Christmas Story OR Wonderful Life??? I've seen snippets of both, but never sat through the whole thing. Weird, huh? I have seen Elf, and I agree its pretty funny. I also love Scrooged with Bill Murry.
Charlie Brown Christmas, Christmas in Connecticut (black and white version my mom watched growing up). I love elf and Christmas story too. I haven't seen Christmas Vacation in forever but I love the sticky scene as well! Big sis and I are watching Polar Express lately - she digs the train and I am mesmerized by the music.
