Not quite what this is intended for...

I walked in to Luc's bathroom the other day and saw this in his toothbrush "hanger". Guess he figured it was good for planes and jets, too. I swear--the kid has so much personality and is just too smart for his own good sometimes. But this made me laugh, so I thought I'd share. Just one of the many little things I love about being a mom--you never know what you may discover (and in this case, this was a GOOD discovery in the bathroom...you don't want to know about some of my other shocking toddler bathroom moments...)

Egg Hunt

We are making it an annual tradition to hunt eggs with Steele. This year the kids really got into the hunt--or at least the candy in the eggs. Basically we just threw the eggs in the grass (not making them very hard to find...) but it was funny how they would walk past four or five eggs to get to a specific one. Lucas had to stop and open them all and try to chow down on the candy. Some of the eggs had stickers or small toys and at one point Lucas tried eating a plastic bunny (thinking it was candy) and held it out to me saying "I no like it mommy!" By the time we got home he was a chocolate covered mess.

Dying Eggs for Easter

Just a little visual of Lucas dying eggs--he made a HUGE mess. Of course he is just being a toddler--he loved plopping the eggs in one color of dye and then throwing them into another color. It made for some interesting eggs for sure! And interesting splatter patterns on my kitchen counter. Thank goodness for 409. I used Luc's creations to make deviled eggs and Nana made creamed eggs for breakfast (along with bunny buiscuits of course).

Spring is here--Hooray!!

This picture totally embodies my own feelings about how awesome it is for Spring to FINALLY be making an appearance!
Too cute! Smelling the daffodils at Wye Mountain is a spring ritual. His daddy did this to him--I claim no responsiblity when he looks at this at the age of twenty and begs "why??"
I love this shot--the flowers are really the focus, but Lucas was looking thoughtful in the background and making faces with Josh. Had to throw one in of my cutie-patootie husband. I love to see him laugh and smile--makes me remember what life used to be life before he became a doctor!

Goodbye Nana Sandy

Sandra Remedes May 5, 1958-March 8, 2008

As many of you already know, Josh's mother recently passed away after a long struggle with illness. We spent the week at home with family and friends--thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. We were able to bring home many of the beautiful flowers that people sent in honor of Sandy and I plan to plant them around the house to remember her by. We will all miss her, but I feel saddest of all that Lucas and our unborn baby will not be able to know their feisty Nana. I put a few pictures of Sandy throughout her life--the first is one of my all time favorites of her with Joshua (notice the "cool cat" shirt!) Lucas looks so much like Josh at this age. Josh loves the last shot of her on the beach (the resolution is a little fuzzy here). The flowers are the roses off the casket--Sandy loved yellow roses. May she be at peace. We love you Nana.

Snow Day Take Two

So we thought we were done with the snow (mainly cause the weather folks TOLD us we weren't going to see anymore...until they recanted and announced we were getting up to a FOOT of snow...) Today we got another few inches (not nearly a foot) but just enough to play in. Lucas enjoyed helping Josh make snow monsters, as well as eating all the snow off my car. It was a nice, lazy day at home...but hopefully the sun will come out in the morning and begin to melt it all away.

Snow much fun!!

Just a couple days ago (and like one post ago) I was commenting on how ready I was for spring....but I have to say that having a random snow day wasn't too awful today. Mainly because it was the best kind of snow day--yesterday it was in the sixties, this morning we had a nice blanket of pristine white snow. It lasted just long enough to get some pictures, throw a few snowballs, and get a cold red nose. By afternoon the yard looked as though it had never snowed. (Hence no nasty slushy ice and dirty brown snow!!)
I woke Lucas up while the snow was still falling and told him I had a surprise for him. We looked out the window and he was so excited. I promised we could go play after breakfast (big mistake--he refused to eat he was so pumped) and we got all bundled up and trudged outside. He immediately discovered that snow was "good" and decided to eat as much as he could. He also had fun trying to catch snowflakes with his tongue. It was weird to see snow on top of the bright flowers that had popped out in the last week (they got tricked into thinking it was spring!) Cali and Hallie romped in the powder, too--they were particulaly frisky this morning. Overall this is the only kind of snow day I ever want to have!
