Tuesday Night Bites

To continue the week-long vampire homage I decided to focus on the iconic show that started the vampire craze: So its no secret that Buffy is a HUGE fav of mine. It's actually ironic--I first watched Buffy at a friends house and I sat there mocking what a teenie bopper crapfest it was...until Angel walked on scene. From that point on, I was hooked and my friend insisted on loaning me the first season to see if I could get into it. Did I ever!! Seven seasons and 144 episodes later I have seen every ep at least four times. I also followed the spin-off (Angel) mainly because I am drawn to David Boreanez as the ensouled, tortured vampire and the epic love of a vampire for a vampire slayer--thats every ones idea of good romance, right? Well, everyone who digs vamps. Here is Angel himself:
Of course, eventually Angel left the show for his own storyline and they brought in his blondie-bear evil spawn--Spike. In some ways, I loved Spike even more--he was bad, yet oh so sarcastically funny. Many fans rooted for a "Spuffy" union (spike+buffy=spuffy).
Favorite episodes are many and numerous, but here's a go: "Once More With Feeling" (the totally awesome musical episode involving a demon who curses the town of Sunnydale to sing and dance themselves to death. Who creates this stuff--only a team of geniuses! It sounds corny, but it was fabulously executed.) Next--"Hush" (an episode of complete silence that somehow managed to be interesting, spooky, and romantic all at the same time.) Finally, I am in love with every single episode of second and third season--I've watched them so much the discs are beginning to scratch, but my all time favs are "The Prom" (Buffy and Angel break up--heart wrenching!), "Amends" (more tortured Angel), and "The Wish" (in an alternate reality Willow and Xander are vamps and Buffy gets killed??) and "Doppelgangland" (Vamp Willow is back and she's on the prowl).
My favorite season finale was Chosen where they wrapped up the Buffy legend in a nice little bow. I cried when it was over--I felt like I'd lost a good friend. (This may be saying something about my social life...not sure.)

Better late than never . . . sorry for the late comment. What a week!

Hush was definitely one of my favs! And the prom. Always loved bad Willow - who could resist the irony!

I miss Joss Whedon's take on vamps

Can't wait for the new moon movie!
