Fang week

In honor of New Moon opening this week, I thought I'd post a daily reflection about my journey with Vampires. Anyone who knows me is aware of my serious fang obsession...no, I don't really BELIEVE in vamps, and I don't walk around pretending to be one (well, not very often) or hoping to find a sexy bloodsucking boyfriend (although if Edward wandered in, I wouldn't boot him out!) But I do enjoy a good Vamp tale. Many of you might imagine you know the source of my passion for the cold ones, but alas, you would be wrong. It actually began with none other than: BUNNICULA
I first read this story sometime in middle school. It is an enchanting children's story about a vampire bunny who sucks the juice out of vegetables. The central family in the story actually finds the bunny in the movie theater during a showing of Dracula, so they name their new pet "Bunnicula". The other pets (Chester the cat and Harold the dog) are rather nervous about a new pet in the house and Chester is convinced the bunny is a fanged fiend out to get the family.
As a child I was immediately taken with this series of books, and went on to read all of the sequels which included "Howliday Inn", "The Celery Stalks at Midnight", "Nighty-Nightmare", and "Bunnicula Strikes Again." I actually heard they made an animated series out of the as well, but I have not ever seen it. I may have to google it and see if I can get it on DVD for the kiddos. I'm sure my mother still has the books stashed somewhere and hopefully one day Lucas and Alex will enjoy them as much as I did. I highly recommend them to your future readers (and closet Vamp lovers who just want a good chuckle).
