I should have known it was going to be one of THOSE days when I got up sick in the middle of the night. It only got worse when we woke up in the morning to the sound of a downpour. Lucas got in trouble for not getting dressed for school--he refused and ran around the house naked for twenty minutes until I finally put my foot down and said he was going to school naked. Apparently embarrassment kicks in at a pretty young age, because when I picked him up and headed to the door he realized I was dead serious and began hollering for his clothes. Meanwhile, Alex hasn't pooped for days again, so I was trying to talk to a nurse on the phone and Lucas is screaming "I not go naked mommy! I not go naked!!!!" I'm sure she was seriously questioning my parenting abilities. Even the dogs looked depressed as they were not allowed outside all morning due to the remnants of Hurricane Gustav. They really missed out on all that grass eating and barking at the Fed Ex guy.
Later, things began to look up a little when Josh got off work early (a rare occurrence) but we had a doctors appointment to deal with Alex's GI issues and boy wasn't that fun! Turns out that our son has a "tight rectum" (no joke) and it had to be stretched by the pediatrician (doesn't he love his job some days). Alex didn't like that at all (who would??) and I was practically in tears listening. The only shining light was he took the motherload of all poops--TWICE and now seems much more relaxed. We were sent home with instructions to continue the rectum stretching exercises--and let me just say doctor daddy will be performing all procedures with the word "rectum" in them.
As a pick me up, I suggested we go out to eat at the Purple Cow (one of Luc's favs due to the great shakes). Lucas proceeded to be absolutely HORRIBLE in the restaurant (I think he spent most of the meal wallowing in the floor under the table despite my dire warnings of all the things that were going to happen to him when we got home). To top that off, Fox News 16 was in the restaurant filming--hopefully they were doing a piece on dysfunctional families, because otherwise they won't get much of a story out of us. On the drive home Josh must have realized that I was contemplating driving the car off a cliff because he leaned over to give me a nice neck message. At which point Lucas got the jealous bug and began screaming "touch ME daddy!" about five hundred times per minute for the entire five minute drive home. I would have laughed if I wasn't so busy crying. Some days you just wish you could have stayed in bed.

Well you certainly started MY day off with a laugh!!!! Sorry your's was so bad but it is very funny....maybe you should be a writer after all. You always did have a knack for words!! Glad things are ok with Alex....I was worried about him. It has stopped raining here (for now) and the sun has actually been out a couple of times (briefly). Unlike your dogs, Mags doesn't mind staying inside at all and loves having me home.
IKES. that sucks.
if it makes you feel any better, i forgot my pump on the way out of town so i had to turn around and get it. It made me about 30 minutes late for my meeting in Clinton.
To top it off, i forgot that I brought some pieces home in Clinton. And surprise of all surprises, the wal-mart in clinton doesn't sell pieces to my pump.
i was so uncomfortable by the time i got back to work. i have never been so happy to pump.
i won't even get into how the meeting went.
