Fall Favs

Fall is in the air and I thought it would be nice to highlight some of my favorite things about fall. Today—it’s the return of decent TV programming. After a long summer of endless reruns and bad reality TV knockoffs I was beginning to question why I even paid for cable…but now I remember. Cuz some shows don’t suck. Here is a list of the ones that keep me entertained and coming back for more each week:
On Sunday—it’s all about Brothers and Sisters If you aren’t watching this show—YOU SHOULD BE. Any show that kills off a “main” character in the pilot episode is worth checking out. The writing is daring and witty, the relationships are wonderful (Calista Flockheart and Sally Field as daughter/mother are perfect), and the plot twists are fairly unpredictable. Oh—and one last thing—ROB. LOWE. IS. HOT!!

Monday night is my shameful secret. I am totally addicted to Gossip Girl. In my defense—the show is SOOO well written and just downright sexy. Do New York teenagers really act like this? Who cares! It’s Sex and the City for a younger generation (although I dug that show, too). And it’s totally quotable. My new fav non-cuss cuss word is “Mother Chucker” (ranked right up there with “Frak” from the sadly canceled Veronica Mars)
On Tuesday my CW habit continues with (gulp—can’t believe I’m admitting this) 90210 (I had to give it a chance since I cut my teeth on the original a decade ago) and the new Privileged—which I swear is channeling a little Gilmore Girls. Finally (gotta use the DVR tonight!) I am giving Fringe a try—it’s a JJ Abrams concept (Lost, Alias).

Bones is my new Wednesday night fav. I love murder/mysteries anyway (see Thursday night) but this has one benefit CSI doesn’t—David Boreanaz. I think he is quite possibly the sexiest man alive. Seriously. (little eye candy for you below). I also manage to catch America’s Next Top Model most weeks. It always makes me want to get off the couch and get in shape…until I realize I’m too tired and lazy, plus I will never be that young and taunt again even if I have a million procedures done.
Thursday night is our “Must see TV” with FOUR shows (the DVR works overtime). Survivor is a classic fav—we’ve been with them since we saw Susan rip into Rich on the finale of Borneo. Of course, we follow that with CSI (we love it so much that was our Halloween costume one year). I still catch Smallville, too, although it’s getting a little tired. A more recent fav is Grey’s Anatomy. Although Josh assures me that no one really passes around STD’s like that at the hospital (but the bloody stuff—that’s pretty accurate).

Then comes Friday and Saturday—I don’t really have any shows I catch, so it gives me a chance to actually WATCH all the shows I recorded all week. If anyone has any suggestions on shows I am missing out on—please dish! I am looking forward to checking out some of the new fall releases, too (I think there is a Christian Slater drama I will have to give a chance…after all, I quote his Heathers character quite regularly even after all these years). Can you tell that my TV-habits are influenced by leading male characters?
