Lucas did fairly well during the actual baptism. I had worried that he would talk or get scared, but the only comment I heard him make during the procedure was when Greg first lifted him up to look into the baptismal waters (which are housed inside a large shell with clear glass pebbles inside). Before the service started I had shown Lucas the water and he asked if the pebbles were bubbles and I told him no--they were rocks. So when Greg picked him up I heard Lucas murmur "Those NOT rocks." Greg stealthily ignored him and moved on. It's a good thing I am familiar with the baptism questions, because during the part where they ask the parents for their promises to raise the children in the church and so on I was trying to APPEAR as though I was listening intently, while I was really stressing over whether or not the kids would start screaming. Meanwhile Lucas snuck off behind us and was peering over the edge of the "stage"...and I could have been saying "I do" to any number of questions... Alex also took the whole event in stride. He was fussy before and after the actual baptism, but a perfect angel during. Greg made me laugh when he took Alex because he commented that we must use products to spike his hair.
Afterwards we headed to the house for a nice luncheon with sandwiches, finger foods, and cake. Guests who joined us for the ceremony/luncheon included Nana and Pa Paw Schuldt, Aunt Mary, Scott and Jenn, Jeffery, Leigh and Nate, and Kristy, Stew, Steele and Riley. Lucas and Alex received beautiful little first Bibles and religious books from Nana Schuldt, pretty silver cross keepsake holders from Aunt Mary, and gift money from Aunt Doris, Uncle Marvin, and Great Grandma Schuldt (who were unable to make the trip). Thank you so much to everyone who made this day so special for our family. We love you!

Why don't you have a book made for each boy including text and pictures of the day. That would be a really nice keepsake for them. Actually, it would be a nice keepsake for me as well!!!

we were glad to be there for you! again, shocked that they boys made it through an entire service without having to leave. it's a good sign! nate konked out when we got home, after more of those screeches when he couldn't play outside. he worked himself up so much i had to crawl up into his bed and soothe him so he'd fall asleep...and i napped a bit too!
