You better not pout....oops, Chloe didn't get that memo this Christmas! Scott and Jenn gave her this totally cute outfit and I did manage to get some good shots of her in it--clearly THIS was not one of them! But I thought it was funny.

Christmas morning was fun this year--Lucas and Alex were both at an age to really enjoy it. Lucas woke up first--a little quiet at first, but quickly warming to the gift opening festivities. I was a bit
surprised (and
appalled) that he didn't seem too interested in his Santa gift--a new bike. The first gift he really raved about was in his stocking. He exclaimed with joy "A spinning toothbrush!" Who knew oral
hygiene could be so cool? I love the photo below--Alex had discovered his Santa gift--a giant floor piano you stomp on--and he was jumping with excitement. Blurry shot, but totally conveys the moment.

Lucas picked out gifts this year and even wrapped them himself, which was special...

We had the usual
plethora of goodies on hand for snacking--including gallons of
wassail (mostly consumed by me), magic bars, cheese straws, cookies, truffle balls, and my mom made these tree and snowman cakes with Lucas, which were extremely problematic during the baking process, but ended up being very cute.

I also attempted a special Christmas Day dessert this year--it turned out pretty cool. And it was edible, too, which is always a bonus when I cook.

Another event we enjoyed this season was going to look at Christmas lights. This year we discovered the Sherwood "Enchanted Forest" in
Dogtown--it was quite a spectacle. Here were some of my favorites from the displays:

Alex had his school party the week of Christmas. They did a cute performance of the children singing "Jingle Bells". Alex mostly just listened until the very end when he hollered out "HEY" and ran off the stage area. Oops. It was quite amusing. Afterwards, Santa came to their classroom and passed out gifts and Alex kept staring at his beard...I was worried he was going to grab it any minute and yank it off (since hair pulling is still one of Alex's favorite hobbies).

Sweet pic...
