Some folks are superstitious about the 13th, even when it doesn't fall on a Friday. I tend not to really think about it (or have TIME to worry!) but today's mail brought a fun curse...we got Josh's updated student loan info. Wait for it....
$$$$$$$$$$
As of today my wonderful hubbie owes $307,324.31 to good ole Sallie Mae. WOW. Does that make your head spin or what??
But thank God we have until the year two thousand and THIRTY NINE to make our final payment. GULP!! That's officially 17 years after our first child goes off to college. We will be 63 years old. Lucas will be 34. We will have been married for 41 years.
So I'm off to buy some Ramen noodles and sell my soul to the devil.

Education is the best investment ever! Plus, that isn't much more than a lot of people's mortgage and they will never get their return on their investment that you guys will get.
I can totally understand being freaked out though. We are pretty debt phobic too.
Well, it does look intimadating when it is all in one lump sum. But...look at this way.....compare it to a year's salary and it doesn't look so bad!!
I agree with the first two comments. And I also say GULP!
I have to add that this amount is AFTER compounded interest. If we make more than the minimum payments we will drastically reduce the amount. So there is a little bright side, right?
OMG!!! I am loving this one! Why are you even looking at it to depress yourself.. I love that you put it into the prespective of how long it will take to pay off compared to lucas going to college...
