Happy St. Patrick's Day! It's funny, but it seems to me that over the years, this holiday has gotten a WHOLE lot bigger and cooler than it was when we were children. Sure, we would wear green and threaten to pinch our classmates, but we didn't have the crazy
leprechaun antics that kids and schools have these days. Lucas was
ecstatic that his classroom at school had been infested with
Leprechaun mischief--according to him, those sneaky little buggers turned the classroom upside down (well, the chairs, anyway), reassigned
every one's cubbies, left little green footprints everywhere, and even peed green in the toilets...The
Leprechauns hit at home, too. This morning I fixed plain old yogurt for the boys, and while we were upstairs getting dressed, they snuck in, dyed the yogurt green, and put Lucky Charms on top! Lucas was thrilled! To add some fun flavor to the day, I had everyone pose in their green gear and a green wig I bought. Lucas hammed it up, but Alex wasn't so sure about it...

For dinner, I whipped up an Irish feast. The
leprechauns struck again while the kids were in school and left pots of gold H
ershey nuggets on the table for them. We also had homemade Irish potato soup, caraway scones, clover shaped cakes, and
cloversicles that Lucas helped me make earlier in the week.

(I have realized that photographing food is very challenging..it usually looks
gross in the shots. But I promise it didn't taste gross!) For a special drink, I made creamy lime coolers, which were a big hit with the kids. We also said a special Irish blessing for dinner: May you have warm words on a cold evening, a full moon on a dark night, and the road downhill all the way to your door.

Finally, Chloe had a cute Carter's outfit for occasion, but as per usual, as soon as I put it on her, she pooped all over it and then followed that act by spitting up all over herself. So we had to make do with the cute wig...
