Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!

It's getting close to Mardi Gras so this weekend we made a trip back to the Port to celebrate with friends and family. Despite a foggy start, the weather was perfect for the parade and we had a great location--somehow we positioned ourselves in the middle of two live bands who rocked it. The kids all had a blast, despite the looooong wait--but it was worth it. I love the family friendly atmosphere of the toned down Fat Tuesday celebrations you find in Shreveport--we happened to stand next to some college aged students that were happy to trade beads to the kiddos, which was very sporting of them. Lucas was a bit bummed that they didn't throw candy (note to self: next year, bring some stinking candy to toss for him!) Here we are waiting for the festivities to begin...sweet couple!
Chloe had to get her diva on. Feathers taste yummy mommy! She fell asleep just before the parade started and managed to snooze through the fire trucks, but the actual screaming crowd woke her up. Aunt Jessie held her and all was good until she got beaned in the face with a necklace and it was all over for her after that.
Lucas had fun with his friends.

The weekend before our trip we attended a Mardi Gras party here in Little Rock. One of Josh's co-workers is from New Orleans and he throws a big bash every year. This year, he got costumes for Josh and Mark to wear too. These are real outfits from the Krewe of Endymion. When Josh put his on, Lucas cried out "You look like a clown daddy!" Scary ;) Here is Mark and his wife:

We still have one more Mardi Gras celebration to attend this weekend and I haven't made king cake yet, so still lots of New Orleans style fun to be had this week! Let the good times roll!
