The Chloe Chronicles

I know, I know...it's been forever since I've updated the blog. Life has been a crazy blur these past few weeks. I never imagined I would have so much trouble adapting to having three children--everyone insists that once you have a couple you don't even notice the additional work with a third, but I would have to dispute that! I feel like suddenly everything is more complicated--trying to play referee between my two youngest (Alex loves "Chlow Eeeee!" as he calls her, but he doesn't understand she must be touched GENTLY so I have to keep them separate which is no easy task), dealing with a jealous Lucas, even keeping up with laundry and dishes (which seem to have doubled even though we only added one teeny tiny person to the mix!) So needless to say, blogging has been on the back burner...or off the stove altogether for the last month or so. I've found time to post a few comments, but no pictures, so today I am making an effort to play catch up. As for as Chloe goes, life is fairly simple...she eats, poops, sleeps (occasionally), and cries (A LOT). She is quite the spoiled stinker and wants to be held 24/7. If I put her down for any reason at all she complains very vocally!
Here she was meeting Nana for the first time. And below is her first doctors checkup. She weighed in at 8 pounds 2 ounces, so she lost a tiny bit of her birth weight, but we have since returned for her one month well baby visit and she was up to 10 pounds, 12 ounces...so no worries that she isn't thriving.
We've been attempting to do tummy time daily, and surprisingly she will tolerate it at times. She has actually rolled herself over from tummy to back a couple times already (although I chalk it up as accidental). But she doesn't always cooperate with mandated tummy time, as witnessed below. The little brat fell asleep during play time...
Speaking of sleep, that is one of her favorite activities. At five weeks she goes to the land of nod most nights between seven and eight (with holding or multiple soothing sessions from mommy and daddy) and will usually snooze until midnight, then she is up for a feeding and back down again fairly quickly. Typically she then sleeps until four or five am, when daddy gets up for work, and then she is up for another feeding. And sometimes up for the day. This is her schedule--on a GOOD night. But not every night is this pleasant. More often than not, though, she seems to be falling into this pattern, which is pretty decent for a newborn. Hopefully we can drop one of those feedings in the next month or so and we will ALL be sleeping more peacefully. Below, a shot of her napping in my bed...how she could comfortably sleep with her neck turned like that, I don't know, but she seemed content.
