Apple Picking

This past weekend was full of activities--one of which was taking the boys to pick apples at a local apple orchard. It sounded like a fun fall activity, and it turned out to be very nice--it was a cool morning and the minute I stepped out of the car I could smell all the wonderful apples. We brought home the Red Delicious variety(doesn't look like it in the picture, but I realized later that they are not WAXED when you pick them straight off the tree, so they don't have that high gloss...but they sure taste better!) The apples smelled and tasted wonderful (Lucas had one on the drive home) and later he "helped" me make Grandma Schuldt's recipe for homemade apple sauce (basically he stood there and ate apples while I did all the work). The same orchard sells peaches and strawberries in the Summer, so I think we might have to make this an bi-annual tradition.

Wow - they have the same smile in the bottom two pictures. Cute!

I hadn't even noticed that, but you are totally right. I always focus on how different they look, so it's nice to see a similarity!
