I realize it has been forever since I have posted on the blog--almost three months. I promise I am going to get back into posting. But here is a run down of the last few months:
We found out we are having another baby. That is the main reason I haven't been posting--I spent the entire first trimester feeling exhausted and sick. I am finally feeling more human again, but I think overall this pregnancy is going to be a little more challenging than the first go round--mainly because this time I have a bundle of energy in his terrible twos to contend with on top of all the pregnancy issues. As of right now our due date is June 28th and it looks as though we are having another boy--although we should get this confirmed at our next ultrasound at the end of the month.
Lucas turned two. He absolutely loved his party. He is totally into getting gifts and eating birthday cake. He actually sings "Happy birth cake to you" quite frequently. We had lots of friends and family turn out to be with Lucas on his special day and thank you to everyone for the fabulous gifts. Lucas is so blessed to have so many people who care about him. At his two year checkup he weighed in at 29 pounds and he was 35.5 inches tall.
LSU vs. Arkansas at Thanksgiving. We made the pilgrammage to Baton Rouge this year to visit the family. Aunt Judy provided the Thanksgiving feast as well as Great Turkey gifts--all of which were LSU related this year for the big game. Unfortunatley the game didn't go our way--but we still had fun tailgating (despite the extreme cold) and I got to see the LSU band play in person which made it totally worth the drive. Lucas is a true tiger fan now--he loves to sing all the songs, chant "Geaux Tigers" and he even spells tigers during the chant. And of course, LSU totally redeemed themselves later in the season by winning the BCS championship. Totally cool.
We had a pretty quiet December--lots of work and several illnesses (Luc and I had Strep, viruses floated all around the house and even Cori the cat seemed to drop lots of weight from being sick) made it pretty hard to get into the holiday spirit. But I rallied the week of Christmas and finally got the house decorated (but it's all staying up until February so I can actually enjoy it for a full month). For the first time in years I had to shop the Saturday before Christmas because I had been too sick to shop earlier. And I never did take Luc to see Santa or get my holiday cards in the mail--so if you didn't get one--don't worry you aren't off the list! I just was too exhausted to address them.
Christmas turned out very nice. We enjoyed the services at St. James church. I swore last year that I would never again put Lucas in the nursery for Christmas Eve service--it is a time for family and last year I missed him so much I cried. So this year he joined us in big church and he wasn't an angel. He talked most of the service and every time the choir got done singing he would shout out "MORE!" which was just too cute. After the service we had dinner and sang happy birthday to baby Jesus. Josh read the Cajun Night Before Christmas much to our amusement and Lucas fell asleep eagar to get up and open presents. At about five am he briefly woke up and said "Santa Claus?" and fell back asleep. In the morning he was so excited about his Santa presents (we don't wrap them) that it was hard to get him to open any of the other gifts--and of course he had tons.
Other fond memories of the holiday: Papaw cooking the turkey on the front porch, making cookies together, going to Bethlehem (its a Shreveport thang), Papaw putting together the building blocks (much griping ensued), a fabulous nutcracker dinner at moms, and Luc's christmas party at daycare
Now we are into the New Year and I am feeling marginally better these days, so I will try to get some pictures up and post more regularly. I am currenly not working, but I am looking for a full time job now that we have baby number two on the way and lots of bills to pay off! I finish this post with a cute story on the passage of time. Its hard to believe Lucas has gotten so big--but just the other day he was helping carry in groceries and I commented that he was big enough to put to work doing chores and pretty soon I'd have to start paying him. He turned to me and said quite clearly "want money!" and continued to demand money until I gave him a dollar to put in his piggy bank. Sigh. My baby is definatly growing up.

aren't these little kids just a trip? and let's hope you're having a girl...we need more estrogen in the room!!
Hi I am glad to see you back on. Just wanted to let you know that Raeden is on the money trip also. She is crawling around the house with her broken leg barking like a dog and eating cereal with her face in the bowl. So hopefully breaking a leg will not stunt her growth. I want to see some preggo picks. Hope it is a GIRL!!! Everyone needs one.
Love,
Ash
