Introducing "Mac Mac Truck". For under five bucks we got a great investment--this is Luc's new favorite toy. He has only recently begun to LOVE trucks--he's not too particular, so any type will do. He enjoys his dump truck, fire engines, buses, trains, and cars, but the 18 wheeler is his absolute fav. I've caught him smuggling home hot wheels cars from daycare (stowed in his pockets) and he has been put into time out a couple times at school when he won't share HIS trucks. Then at the store the other day Josh gave in and bought him this red 18 wheeler--which Lucas promptly dubbed "Mac Mac". In the Disney movie "Cars" the star racecar lives inside an 18 wheeler named Mac, so naturally Lucas thinks this is Mac and he even opens the back doors and says "McQueen's house mama?" Tonight he tried to take Mac to bed with him, but I have to draw the line somewhere. His vocabulary is growing in leaps and bounds, too. He regularly uses full sentances (although as Uncle Scott points out--you really need an interpreter to understand them all) but since I spend so much time with him I am pretty fluent. His favorite question right now is "what's that?" and he asks it about EVERYTHING. I am relieved he has not yet discovered "But why?" because then I know I will pull out all my hair in exasperation!!
Tonight we were talking to him about his baby brother and he was sweetly chatting with my belly. It's so cute to watch him interact with the baby--he even pats it and sings to it sometimes. When Lucas was done talking he covered my belly back up and said "bye bye" and promptly pulled his own shirt up and stuck out HIS belly for us to talk to. So I don't think he quite gets the whole concept yet!
After our trip to Disney we will begin redoing our guest bedroom--we are transforming it into Luc's new dinosaur room. I want to try to make the transition as soon as possible so that there will be less chaos when the baby arrives. It will be a pretty big step since Lucas will be moving to a big boy bed at the same time, but we are easing into it. I take him in the room daily and we talk about where his new bed will be and what the room will look like. I ordered some iron shaped dinosaur wall art and on the day it arrived Lucas helped me unpack everything and he was so enamored of the T-rex that he tried to carry it around all afternoon.
