I know he isn't quite two yet, but Lucas seems to be on the thresh hold of the terrible twos. He looks like an angel in these pictures that I took last weekend. Leigh gave me some gorgeous sunflowers for my birthday and I took one outside to get some shots. Lucas was intruiged by such a large flower and carried/dragged it around forever. When one of the petals fell off he even said "uh-oh" and tried to put it back on for me--what a sweety! We also laid in the grass pointing at the clouds in the sky and giggling like crazy in between photo-mad mommy snapping pictures. I got some REALLY good ones and I am loving my new toy. But these pictures of Lucas laughing out loud don't tell the whole story--these days he is either smiling or bawling. I need to get some evidence of the crying fits--but I never seem quite in the mood to snap pictures during those moments. But if he doesn't get what he wants, when he wants it, the tears begin. We are mainly taking a "walk away and ignore him" stand--which works rather well at home since he loses his audience and grows bored quickly. In public it is a much more embarassing stand, so we tend to try to reason with him (HA!) or just take him home. Let's just all cross our fingers, legs, eyes, and toes and hope that this phase passes quickly into the night!

from everything i hear, that is the best thing to do with them in public: just walk out. it sucks, but i guess it works. nate's tantrums are short lived, and we usually just try to distract him with something else. it dosen't always work though...
